How To Clean Car Headlights From the Inside?

Regular car maintenance is essential to keep it in good condition and increase its lifespan. Keeping your headlights clean on the inside is just as important as cleaning them from the outside. How to clean car headlights from the inside?

1. Cleaning Your Headlights Using Detergent

Generally speaking, you can clean your headlight from the inside easily with detergent.

What You’ll Need

  • Warm water
  • Detergent
  • Toothpaste
  • A cleaning rug

To clean your headlight from the inside, you need to remove the lens first. Then you can mix your detergent with warm water, ensuring it lathers sufficiently.

Dip the cleaning rag into the cleaning solution and wipe the dirt off the lens gently. Do not use excessive force as you may damage or scratch the lens. Use the cleaning rug repeatedly as you clear the dust build-up. Once it looks clean, you can inspect it for any oxidation streaks, which your toothpaste will deal with effectively. You can apply a generous amount of toothpaste to the lens and let it be on the surface for a few minutes, then wash it off with the same gentle motion.

Put your headlight lens in place with shade and give it a few minutes for it to dry. You can also give it a dry wipe before screwing it back.

Cleaning the Car's Headlights With Magnets

2. Cleaning the Car's Headlights With Magnets

This method of cleaning foggy headlights from the inside consists of putting one of the magnets inside the headlight and then with the other magnet attracting it from the outside. In this way, we can move it across the entire surface easily.

What you'll need:

  • A couple of magnets
  • A piece of microfiber cloth
  • A screwdriver, or any metal rod

First of all, you need to wrap both magnets in a piece of microfiber each. Previously you can cut a sufficient size so that it is well covered. On the one hand, the cloth will allow all the dust to be trapped inside. On the other hand, the wrapping of both magnets is necessary so as not to scratch the surface of the lens.

The best way to hold the magnet and microfiber together is to sew the cloth well with thread. You can also try textile glue or any other type of instant glue.

To achieve a perfect finish, it is best to spray the magnet with a glass cleaner before inserting it wrapped in microfiber into the headlight.

Now you can get down to work. It is a good idea to use a screwdriver or any metal rod when you put the magnet inside and remove it carefully.
